Some time ago I was given an SD camera card, where the owner had inadvertently deleted all her images.

Could I get them back she pleaded.

As I run a Linux system the usual 'Recuver' and PC inspector were not available to me..

So I had a go with what is available with Ubuntu w allith no success..

I put it aside intending to return the card when next I saw the lady.

This week I was helping out another with her Ubutnu 11 system getting music transferred from an iPod.

As her machine had a built in card reader , I thought try that Sd card.

And amazingly with out trying any programs at all those missing images revealed them selves and I was able to burn them to a DVD.

So how come those images came back with out help from me seemingly.

Well it appears that the images were not deleted but were just inaccessible and that is how you were able to see them and burn them to DVD. It seems the problem was with her PC not being able to view/read the images (for some unknown reason)

Now that they are safely on DVD she could copy them back to her PC and then format the SD card for further use.
