recover files from LS-120 Drive

I have a compaq LS-120 Floppy/Super drive and want to recover the files from the 6 disks I have. My PC Bios doesn't recognise the drive, any ideas would be welcome.

I used to have an LS-120 once I updated to XP I could never get it to work again.

Check your bios that floppy seek is enabled.

It may need Compaq Drivers to get it recognized

"...the 6 disks I have"

The LS120 can read both standard floppy disks, and 120MB LS120 "flopticals". Can you just confirm your disks are the LS120 ones please.

An LS120 connects to the IDE cable (just like a hard drive) is that how you've got it connected? What's it set to Master, Slave or what. Is it an IDE drive -some were external drives for a parallel connection. A few details here

In the BIOS, the setting for IDE drives in usually "Auto"- so that the BIOS interrogates the drive. Look through all the settings and see if there is a specific LS120 setting.

Otherwise you're out of luck - you'll have to find a system somewhere where they can be read.

What motherboard do you have - make and model number please.

You could try it on the secondary IDE channel as the only drive - this might give your BIOS a better chance of seeing it.
