Recording from Vinyl

I was given a vinyl (LP player)that had no amplifier system build in (the original sound sound system went wrong and this was a free standing plug in device.

I tried pugging it direct into my microphone input, but the level was to low to be of any use, looking at pre-amp's and the price was too high.

I had an old computer speaker system, so I plugged the player output into speaker 1 (amplifier)and the output from that to the computer (line in) instead of another speaker.

Works perfect.
Hope this is of help to anyone in the same situtation

Try running an audio lead from the players output/headphone socket to the input on your sound card.

The only output is from the cables that feed direct from the stylus and were meant to plug into the amplifier on the unit which is not working.

Which is why I had to boost the signal, the way I did.
