recording subtitled programs

i know this is strictly a pc forum but seems to be expanding into other areas slowly so i hope i can be forgiven for posting this here.

i have an elderly friend who has asked me what if any equipment tv/vcr/freeview in order to record subtitles as he is very hard of hearing, i doubt it but thought i might ask those wiser than i

did a google search ( which i should have done first lol ) and the solution was there it is the

Humax PVR-8000T80

which meets my mates needs and can be found

Any dvd recorder with built in freeview will record the subtitles if they are called up .Any vhs recorderr will record the subtitles if its hoked up by scart to a freeview box nothing special needed
