Recording CD but tracks not playable.

  nooney 13:38 09 Feb 05

I am using XP home and recording Audio CD using any of my software programmes, Media Player,Nero, AShampoo etc. and all seems OK.
The tracks play on the computer but cannot be found on my home player or my car player.
I have tried various media types and all produce same effect.
I have 2 drives and as far as I know I am not selecting mp3.
Any ideas please?

How many "tracks" are you able to fit onto it... Average is 23... If your music's length is more than 80 minutes, then you can't copy them all onto the disk...

has not the CD got to be finalized before it will play in the car, etc...

Yes it does, but if you have selected the correct type of media to create, it is finalised automatically

The copy finmalises and is playable on the computer but not on any other player?
I record about 18 tracks and have space left.
I have tried CD-R and CD-RW discs with same results.

Are you sure you have selected "Audio CD" and not Data?

CD-RW disks don't normally play on home or car players - the reflectivity differences on the disks are not great enough. Not every player will play CD-R either.

Do you have a DVD player atached to your TV? If so, try it in that. They often play CDs that other players won't.

You hit the nail on the head.
My CD/DVD player in the cimema system plays the discs OK.
I did not realise that most CD players cannot read CD-RW.
Many thanks
