Rebuild problem

  sneakerman 11:05 05 Jun 04

I have just bought a new case, and after transferring everything over, the system hangs. I get as far as the Windows XP splash screen and then the screen goes blank and after a few seconds the monitor powers down. If I just turn off the power on restarting I get the 'Windows was not shut down properly' message and if I select safe mode it starts into that mode fine.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Sounds like a windows driver can't find something. Check all IDE cables to HDD + CD/DVD and power plugs. Retry if same use F8 o try and get into sfe mode and check device manager for errors.

Thanks for your help - it would appear to have been the video card not being seated properly - can't explain why safe mode worked!
