Reading MS Backup files

MS Backup results in a file that I cannot read. It has the extension .QIC. Please, Is there any program that will enable me to examine the contents if only to confirm that the files I requested have been backed up!

Thanks.

I think the only way to read these files is to use them. Backups are usually compressed so any attempt to read the contents will not work unless you use the backup restore program i.e. use the files.

Thanks Brian.

Surely you only use them when you have crashed or lost your files or some other disaster. I havent got the confidence to delete the originals to see if back up works! I tried to use the CD RW containing my desktop files on my laptop but it did not recognise the set up even though the files are almost identically placed. The hardware is defferent of course.
