Reading Different File Formats

Had some difficulty reading files aved on DVD for use with a new computer.
Is there an application out there that will enable any file format to be read?
Help would be appreciated.

Thanks but I have QV+ which usually manages but in this case it doesn't work.

Microsoft Publisher files, but I dont have the application now.

You couldn't have chosen a worse programs files! You cant even read them with another version of publisher. You may have to install the original version of the program again.
