reading blank media

Cd-rw reads media from disks, burns but when I insert a blank disk to save files onto reads as no disk, please insert blank disk. When I display properties it shows that no disk is present? Any ideas?

You do need to format the CD first if you want to do normal explorer copying (as opposed to copying via a CD-writng program like ECD Creator or Nero).

Hi DieSse, thanks for your input, do you mean format, as in a cd-rw disk(preparing a large floppy)using something like Nero's Incd?
ME is the op. It is a new installed drive. In XP I can just save files onto a raw cd-r, Is this possible in ME.
Thanks k-g.

Yes - format as in a CD-RW. XP has built-in basic CD writing capability (using Easy-CD-Creator in a special version only for XP) - ME has no such built-in capability.
