readin Excel spreadsheet files (with Works?)

I have a number of correspondents who send me Microsoft Excel (xls)spreadsheet files. I have M/S Works installed. Is there any way I can either print or at least look at these xls files to see what the data is, even if I cannot expect Works to handle it?

It is surprising that seemingly Microsoft does not offer any help in this area, when it is the developer for both products.

The spreadsheet in "Works" will open and read/write files from Excel with no problem at all, it is the same program, vastly cut down version though. J.

Djohn, thanks very much.
It is obvious when one thinks about it. So I went to "Folder Options" in ME and changed the read program from notepad to Works. Now no problem.
I appreciate the help. Thanks again.
