Re-use / activate old copy of XP Home

I have a copy of XP Home which was on a machine which I have scrapped - I now want to use this copy for a new PC. Will there be any issues with regard to activation?

There shouldn't be. If it will not let you activate on-line, just 'phone MS and I'm sure they will give you a new activation code. I have always found them most helpful in such situations.

Probably not with activation, but if it's an OEM copy then it's tied to the previous machine. The new validation process on the Windows Update site may well pick this up. Retail copy, no problem at all.

I agree with ventanas. The new validation process on the Windows Update site may well pick this up. Have a go at doing what rmcqua suggested, you have nothing to lose.
