I need help to eliminate various forms of the worm Opas.
I'm currently using AVG antivirus.
I get bombarded with the virus everytime i on the computer.
I'm running windows 98 and have already installed the recomended patch.
I've also tried the Symantec Opaserv removal tool. But still AVG alerts me that the virus is infecting.
I also need help as to where i can get vital files that this virus has deleted.
Thanking in advance.

You need to disable system restore which of course will lose all your restore points. Then use the virus cleaner that vog has linked to.

almost forgot then you can reset system restore to make a new restore point.

well there is a system restore but not by name. The other reason it may keep coming back is the virus vault within avg. I had a similar problem after an upgrade of avg and had to delete the whole virus vault in the end.

Yes I know about scanreg/restore but that only restores the registry. But I suppose if there is a hook in the registry...

Thanks for the responses, i've not solved this prob yet, cuz my computer crashed before i could
do anything... I guess because of all the missing
vital files.
But just for future reference, can files such as
.exe or .bat in windows be installed individually?
Thanks again!
