re-installing xp

Hi guys,
my pc got seriously infected with trojan and i want to reinstall xp,but after changung the boot sequence in cmos it does not even though i know it is not the cds fault.when open it from 'my computer' it opens.i click install xp and it starts but i want to know if i can format it thru that process since i want to completely format and reinstall.if not whats the another option so i can format and reinstall.

You cannot install Windows whilst Windows is still running.

Ensure you have a note of the Product Key also ensure the machine has CD as first boot device, insert the XP disk and shut down. Reboot the machine and it should find the XP disk and just follow the instructions on-screen.

Have had a bad infection, It would be a good idea to re-format your hard drive(s) prior to installation...failing to do this may leave behind stubborn items of malware.

Bear in mind that formatting the drives will erase ALL data and programmes from your pc.
