Re-Installing Windows Home Edition

Is there a correct way to re-install Windows XP Home Edition. I have been told that re-installing over itself is not recommended. If so, then having partitioned my hard drive, and backed up important files, should I then be reformatting the C partition in readiness for the re-install. What is the correct proceedure for this operation please.

There are no issues with installing over the top just run the installation from within Windows. If however you want to start again as it were then just boot from the drive and follow the instructions on screen.
