Re-installing Ad-aware 6+

  Keyhole 21:12 05 Oct 04

I have bought a new Dell computer with XP Professional OS. I transferred Ad-Aware 6+ from my previous computer (XP Home Edition), and I got multiple alerts saying changes were being attempted to registry values, so I blocked all these attempts. The next time I started the computer, neither the keyboard nor the mouse worked; I had to do a System Restore, which has removed Ad-aware 6+.
Is there a safe way to transfer Ad-aware6+ and should I allow registry changes if the alerts recur? Or should I start over and pay again for 6+ or its upgraded equivalent?
