Re-install Win 7 / re-format

  hawthorn59 02:20 24 Nov 10

I read a in a few different articles that one may have to or wish to reformat the hard drive every year or 2 if its going slow, clogged up etc.

I have the actual Windows 7 Installation disk (I bought it). So can you re-install it indefinitely or is there a limit to the number of times you can?

As your copy of Windows 7,as opposed to an OEM edition, you can install it as many times you want. Also provided it is removed from one pc it can be legally installed on another.

I have a copy of XP bought on the day it was released and am still using it and of course reinstalling it every year or so, on my wifes pc.

Microsoft hold details of your hardware ID's and providing you are re-installing on the same rig then as above installations are unlimited.

I would rather use the various utilities like CCleaner and a regular Defrag to try and keep the speed going without the hassle of a complete reinstall.
