A new Novatech desktop last week this one runs Windows 7. A rogue piece of software "reimage PC Scan and Repair", with a desktop icon for a short cut.

It seems to have arrived with a helpful friend and resembles a virus though it passes AVG and Malware bytes. It carries all sorts of charges and I don't want it. When I still used XP I used to search the registry using F3 to find etc. Is there an equivalent in W7? Anyone using this or has used it, what is the best way to clear this away?

I will Uninstall and then probably comb the registry with CCleaner. Anyone offer a better way?

Splendid stuff, all of you and my thanks.

The first one (AdAware) did the trick and now my priority is an Acronis 2014 image file I'm being lent a 2014 version. Then I will feel safer with a backup to be called if I slip somewhere. A 9 year old relationship with Acronis has meant a safe return if I had made a boo-boo

Pleased it was quickly sorted, just as a matter of interest who here has suggested AdAware?
