I tried to reformat my hard disk, copied emergency disk. the went to DOS typed C:\ Format c:\s\v and got message insufficient memory to load system files. Format terminated.
If I just want to format it will erase my hard disk but can I use it again if I do this.

make sure before you start that you have a boot up floppy and the mobo cd and any other cds of progs you wish to put on are to hand. Nothing worse than needing the cd and cant find it. If you have not got the latest drivers see if you can find them first and store them on floppy/cd before you start.

I have all the driver disks available, mother board, sound and graphics cards, cd roms and floppy disk, does this mean I can go ahead and re-format or do I need to create a boot file on the Hard disk?

As long as you have the os disk as well.
No need to create boot file.
