In a posting a few days ago Andÿ said that if you delete or preview an e-mail, with this virus attached, it may cause the virus to run, if you do not have the relevant MS patch applied (even if you don't open the attachment).
In the same discussion Mac & Beth referred to the MS patch in question (MS01-027).

I am a little confused: The MS patch relates to Internet Explorer not Outlook Express. How can a change to IE affect how your OE will function?

Also the patch relates to IE 5.5 sp1, I use IE 5.5 sp2. Do I need to worry, or is the problem fixed in sp2?

I hope this makes sense.

IE & OE are part of the same programe, sharing many of the same files. The patch will 'protect' both.

Not sure about the diff between sp1 and sp2 though, usually the auto download makes the check and lets you know if you need the upgrade etc.

Most important thing is to have upto date virus DAT files running on your PC and checking incoming e-mail.
