Random reboots

  Ray5776 18:59 03 Jun 07

I have recently, (last 3 weeks) upgraded my memory from 3x256 to 3x512.
The machine now reboots at what appears random intervals. I can be using it and it just shuts down and reboots.
I have ensured that memory boards are secure in their bays.
Any ideas please

Random reboots can be caused by

failing psu
and memory

suggest you test the memory as you have just fitted new

Shows no faults on the memory test and has not rebooted wily nily for the last 2 days. I will see what happens.

Thanks buteman I will look at that, would have replied sooner but it has shut down 3 times since my posting which means 7 random reboots since5 oclock, not good.
Will now look at the link but wanted to post before it does it again.

to me this seems like memory or PSU, PSU is fairly new and of adequate output, I have now swapped the memory cards around and will see what happens next.
As I said in my first posting upgraded memory was installed but that does not mean that it is OK.
I will; see what happens.

thanks for your help.

Control Panel, System, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, Settings.

Uncheck 'Automatically restart', Check 'Write an event to the System log'. Then you can look at the Error properties.
