RAM Upgrade - Pagefile Settings

Today I upgraded from 1Gb Corsair XMS Memory to 2Gb of the same stuff. I am running Windows XP Pro.

I was just wondering what I should set the pagefile to for this new memory. On the 1Gb setup I think it was set at 1536 min and 3072 max which was default.

Any suggestion please?

I would suggest you try setting it smaller to encourage Windows to make better use of all that ram and less use of the pagefile. Try setting it to 512MB, fixed, and see how it goes.

set intial and maximum to the same value

always set virtual memory (pagefile) to double the memory install in your case set to 4G

Win XP always seems to make quite reasonable page file decisions on it's own - IMHO it's really not necessary to mess with them.

I really can't see what having a 4Gb pagefile would give you - Win only uses the pagefile when it runs out of actual RAM - with 2Gb of actual RAM - when's this going to happen?

I agree with DieSse set it to System Manage and let it do it's thing
