ram upgrade

i have bought two,1gig boards of the correct ram for my upgrade.i have 3 slots with 512GB in the first slot, crucial says i can put the new boards in any position of the remaining two slots on one piece of advice and on another page it advised putting the highest value board in poition 0.should i move my 512GB out of it`s position and put the two 2 gig`s in first and refit the lower value last ?or does it not make any difference? i am a engineer,but not a computer bod!advice from those who have done it would be very gratfully recieved.

Ideally yes. I find only a handful motherboards make a fuss if you don't do it that way though.

The good news is that you will not cause any damage if you installed them the 'wrong' way - at worst the PC may fail to boot. Then all you need to do is power down the PC, unplug power cord & install them correctly. Yes, always unplug power cord (or switch-off power on the PC's power supply) whenever installing components.
