its definitly bad memory will have to by a new one. this system should support maximum 512MB.

just one more question: can i put 512MB in one slot or do i need to buy 2x 256Mb memorys and put each one in each slot?

Worked with one 128Mb, should work with one 512Mb.

Use Crucial memory selector if possible

May not work with 1 stick especially if its an older pc.

Have you checked HPs website for clues

hi sorry i was not here so u couldnt reply.

i have used the crucial memory selector and it said that 512MB is max. i can use but it didnt tell if i have to use 2x256 or 1x512.

it showed me whitch modules are compatible with my system and there wasnt any 512MB card available

i thing the bes will be to buy two 256MB memorys and put them in each slot.

or not ???? :)
