Ram Problem

  space head 15:14 26 Feb 05

I have just purchased 2-256mb, 186 pin, 133Mhz ram cards for my Dell Dimension 4100 to replace 2-64mb cards. Neither of the new cards are recognised. If I leave one of my existing 64mb cards in a slot and put one of the new 256 ones in the other, only the 64 card is recognised and the computer becomes unstable. I've tried all combinations in both slots with no success.

I have heard that dell computers are configured to only accept memory purchased from dell direct. Have you emailed/asked them to confirm type of memory required.
