I have 516 ram fitted-I want to increase-my simple thought is buy 1/2 gb of ram and just add to make 1.516gb or is that too easy and .516gb has to be replaced with 1/2gb RAM
Cheers

Might be an idea to check the maths. 1032MB = 1GB

What OS are you using?

Have you thought of visiting either click here or click here to find out what the possibilities are.

Although RAM is simple to fit, there are several varieties which are incompatible and your MoBo will be fairly specific as to what it requires.

wee eddie's first link will take you to the home page of one of the best-respected companies on the web.

Click on Scan My System, and Crucial will tell you exactly what RAM you have at the moment, what possible ways are available to increase it, and exactly what it will cost. You can then order what you choose direct from the website and it will arrive by post in no time flat — complete with installation instructions (it's a very simple job, by the way).

I think most of the 'regulars' on the PCA forums would agree that Crucial's service is first class.
They're not the cheapest, but I reckon that buying cheap RAM is false economy...

Usual disclaimers — I'm just a very satisfied customer.

Jim,
Do crucial check that your motherboard will be compatible with their suggested upgrade? Sounds like they do but just want to be sure thats what you are saying they do. Thanks

Apologies for delayed response.
Yes, that's exactly what Crucial's system scanner does.

is a screen shot of part of the result of a Crucial scan of my desktop. On the real thing you could see all the alternative upgrades by scrolling down — but of course you can't scroll a screenshot.

Sorry! Made a mess of that...

FE please remove.

Cheers Jim.

No problem.
