Thanks to Totally-braindead for input to my last query on 14/1/07


However, the questions still remain....
.....would an additional hard drive with both configured to RAID 0 see an improvement in performance?

Would it be worth considering Raptors as part of this upgrade?

A pair of Raptors on Raid O may well see an increase - it just depends on what you are upgrading from.

I have pair of WD Raptors on RAID0, so does Kate B. There is without doubt a clear increase in speed, I did run with just one before buying a second. The RAID controller you use will also affect performance, that included with the nVidia nForce 4 chipset is a good one. Before setting up for the first time I sent a query to WD support about the stripe size to use, they recommended 128KB for a home PC and that is what I use.
