RAID and adding a hard drive

hi, it would be much appreciated if someone could help me with a RAID problem. I just bought a new hard drive and wanted to add it to my system which has 2 hard drives on RAID 0. I plugged it in and launched and got messages saying it was installed but it was not visible in my computer, yet it was in disk drives in device manager.
In BIOS it says it is trying to launch it in raid but it is not the same make or the same size as the other two. Is it possible to launch it as a separate drive so it can act as a back up?

You cannot simply add an extra HDD to an existing RAID 0 array to form a backup just like that, the only way you can do is to rebuild it as a RAID 5 system(2+1 HDD of the same sizes) but it means you'll have to break & format the RAID 0 which I don't think you'll want to do.

If what you needed was just a backup HDD and both Bios and Disk Manager can see it then just click and format it in DM.

thanks, it needed a partition to get it started.
