recap 14:44 22 Dec 04

I am considering installing a second hard drive in my computer and running RAID.

Do both drive have to be the same size to run RAID?

I believe that for Raid 0 to work both drives have to be the same size, some go as far to say identical. For Raid 1 the backup drive again has to be the same size, or bigger, though the extra space will be wasted (i think).

I'm not sure myself, but I think thats right.

Thanks for the link Fruit Bat /\0/\.

LeadingMNMs, I wasn't too sure my self on the wasting part of the larger sized drive.

in both raid 0 and raid 1 the general principle is twice the smaller drive. with raid o the total capacity is twice the smaller drive, with raid 1 the second drive duplicates the first.
