Radeon X600...is this any good?

I'm looking to buy a Sony Vaio laptop and it tells me that the graphics card is an ATI Radeon X600. I've heard of the Radeon 9700 and 9800 but not this one.

Does anyone know if it is any good and also whether it is better than the 9700/9800?

Any help would be appreciated.

Think it is one of top range chipset's but will be limited as It will more than likely be a onboard

having looked at the internet, there seems to be alot about the PC Graphics card but not the mobile version. From what I've read, its a PCI-Express. Doesn't that mean that it has it's own memory?

seems to come in about same as basic gforce6600

My son uses a X300. Excellent.

All you need to establish is if it is onboard graphics or a card.

the higher the number the better the card, 300, 600, 700, 800, etc.

Have an Acer laptop with an X600 fitted,it is pci express and this one has 64MB memory ,guess it is onboard being a laptop.Looks pretty good, no complaints from my daughter who uses it.

Like raeman, I have an Acer laptop with this graphics card - 3022WLMi click here . I bought this following a rather stunning group test review in the (current?) October Personal Computer World (apologies to PCA) which was mainly due to the graphics card performance - and the screen. Hope that helps. ps - I was 100% certain that I was going to buy a Sony Vaio.....!
