Hi, can I run a PCI-E 3.0 card in a PCI-E 1.0 slot? Thanks, Bob.

Hi, a bit more detail. I have a Medion Akoya desktop, It hasa MSI 7318 mobo running a core 2 duo E6400 cpu, with a now not very well Geforce 7650 GS gpu. As I said above I'm wondering if PCI-E is backwards compatible or if I will have to change the Motherboard and who knows what else. Regards, Bob.

Answer

You can, however the bandwidth on a pcie slot 1 is significantly lower than on a pcie slot 3,the graphics cards performance would suffer

You could purchase a motherboard bundle which incles the mboard, ram and processor?
