Quicktime file causing slow PC

Hi All
Please can anybody help, I have an AVI quicktime file that as soon as I click on causes my computer to slow right up and eventually freeze. As long as I dont touch this file everything is OK. I cant delete it as it keeps saying file is in use by another programme (which it is not). I have scanned it with norton and also run ad aware and it seems to be free of viruses. I want to delete it as I am worried the problem may spread to other files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Try closing all running apps and delete it or boot in safe mode and delete it or delete the whole folder that the file is in and then re-create the folder remembering to name it exactly as it was before.
