Quicktime 7.1 defaults

I updated to QT 7.1 to watch a movie that said it needed it. Now I find visiting youTube, mySpace and other video sites that QT first pops up then displays a "?" when it can't play the file. Strange thing is, I've disabled all associations in the preferences of QT. These sites are flash files if memory serves. Still, all I get is QT popping up saying it can't play it.
Where do I start to fix this mess?

Can you try system restore to go back to before the upgrade to 7.1?

Then install QuickTime alternative 1.76 final : QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.

I tried uninstalling it....says it's successful...but it's still in my box. However, it's somehow fixed itself and now doesn't default to itself everytime a video in a page appears.
