My old QuickBasic programs work with my new computer using XP except that my new printer is connected to a USB port rather than LPT1. I cannot find a new address (eg USB001) which the QuickBasic program will accept. Any advice on the way forward please?

Answer is that there is no address for USB! Either buy printer with parallel port and check it supports DOS printer commands e.g. HP 3820 (commands available from HP), or try transferring ports as PC Advisor, issue 92, p 147 (although I could not get these ideas to work).
