Hi

My motherboard only has 2 x SATA sockets and I could do with using more. Cheapy Foxconn MBoard Win XP Sp2. etc.

I've been looking at this option.click here

My query is. 'Is it going to conflict with the 2 ports I already have and is it worth buying as an easy way to add the required ports.

TIA

that should work just fine - it is the latest thing - when usb 2 first came out you could buy a pci card to give you usb2 sockets where your mobo did not have any and likewise you can buy a pci card with a socket for connecting a printer.

I have just remembered having a pc which was unable to handle eide large drives and I bought a pci card which you could plug your large ide drive into.

“Is it going to conflict with the 2 ports I already have”

Don’t see why there should be any conflict with the SATA ports on the motherboard

“And is it worth buying as an easy way to add the required ports”

Yes; but make sure that you get the correct one for the OS on the computer

The VIA VT6421A 3 PORT SATA SERIAL ATA + 1 ATA PCI CONTROLLER CARD

Work in Win98SE/Me/2000

MY-Link 3 PORT SATA SERIAL ATA + 1 ATA PCI CONTROLLER CARD.

Work in Win98SE/Me/2000/XP

Thank you for the input.

I'll make sure I get the right one.
