A question of RAM 256 to 518 upgrade

  portofcall 19:40 24 Oct 05

I recently upgraded ram from 256 to 518 (three slots on avail). I figured that my computer would recogize both 256 and 518 giving me 768 ram. This doesn't seem to be the case. It appears that my 256 is excluded and I'm going with 518 only. Surely, this can't be the case. Please let me know if anyone else has the same situation on their upgrade.

We' need to know your motherboard make, model and revision number (if applicable) as well as what type of RAM you are using. For example, are the modules ECC, registered, buffered, what bus speed are they, and what brand?

Note that registered modules are, in most cases, only required if all slots are utilised.

click here to download Everest. It will run without installing and tell you a lot of what you need to tell us.

That's not to say that it runs automatically, just that it doesn't install as a program file
