Question about taskbar in XP

A while ago I stumbled across an option on my XP PC that allowed me to tick or untick boxes that changed the appearance, which meant performance increased. I am now selling the PC, and want it back how it was but I can't find the option anywhere.

Anyone know where its hiding? Thanks

control panel>performance and maintenance>system>advanced tab>performance settings

Right-click the taskbar & select Properties - perhaps?

Also Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Performance > Settings > Visual Effects. I only have 5 items ticked there. G

Spot on, thank you very much :)

Try lowering the Visual Effects as well - makes a greater difference than the taskbar settings to increase performance (or give that illusion anyway!). G

Btw, the ones I have ticked are:

- Show shadows under menus
- Show shadow under mouse pointer
- Smooth edges of screen fonts
- Use drop down shadows for icon labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons
