My Daughters PC only has onboard sound
but the the sound is not working,
I have tried everything as suggested in this forum,
including D/L the latest drivers SiS 7018.
My question is if I bought a sound card would it work even though the onboard sound is not working,?
in other words is it independant from the onboard sound.

if so would I have to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS
Thanks

you disable on board sound in bios, shut down pc install the new card, when you restart windows will find the card and ask for driver use cd that comes with the card or download driver, download your motherboard manual if you are not sure about how to diable onboard in bios.
