Question about laptops and wifi

Hey all,

I'm just entering into the world of portable computing.

I want to network my laptop to my
desktop pc without wires, is all I need two wireless 802.11 cards or do I need an 802.11 card and an access point. I'm not sure what the difference is, I use internet connection sharing and already have a LAN setup for that.

Also is it possible to run a laptop from a car battery by plugging an adaptor into the cigarette lighter.

Thanks

Sturmey

Two wireless cards will do just fine, for simple one-to-one ICS. If you will have several desktops and laptops sharing a broadband connection, you will find it much more convenient to invest in a router with a built-in wireless access point. Check out the models at netgear.com

Yes, you can use an in-car charger.
