A question about DIVX DVD Players

  suburban train 19:20 13 Sep 06

Hi All

Ive purchased this DVD player through amazon.

It states that it can play DIVX which I happy about but what happens if my DIVX movie is bigger than my CD e.g 950MB.

If I burn the movie to a DVD disc surely wouldnt the film play in cheaper DVD player without DIVX?

What provisions do i need to make to play a divx movie which is bigger than the standard size CD disc.

If I had a movie which was 500mb would i need to copy to a normal CD or DVD disc.

Thanks for your help

If you burn a large DivX .avi to a DVD then your player will be able to play it, normal DVD players can only play DVDs using the .VOB format - different compression/disc layout, requiring conversion with something like this; click here

How do i convert from DIVX to DVD?

Open nero vision express, make dvd, add files, browse to the required divx file, click on it and click ok.

This will now import it into vision express, follow the onscreen instuctions.

If the player can handle divx it should play divx on dvd as well as divx on cd. In other words just copy the files the same as you would with cd, you could use nero and burn as dvd iso (standard dvd).
