Query regarding programming

  Mutant_Llama 22:57 24 Jul 03

I am 32 and currently work on a software helpdesk.
An opportunity has come up for a starting post COBOL programmer and I wondered if this was a good move or not?

I would like to get into programming but have little pratical experience (done several courses but they only take you so far).

Anyone offer any advice before I make the biggest blunder of my life, or miss a major opportunity?

I find programming an extremely fulfilling experience and would recommend it to anybody - provided that they like programming of course.

I have no experience of Cobol - presumably this is a finance company or similar?

Find out exactly what you will be required to know and do before you do the interview; do the interview; decide if it is right for you.
