Quantum Ict HDD

I have read reports that the large chip on the circuit board is prone to overheating and subsequent loss on these HDD. I have one I use as a spare and noticed the said chip does indeed look as if it runs very hot. Is it a case that these HDD's should have additional cooling to prolong their life or is it a fault that can't be cured?

If you are worried about it then get a hard disk cooler. I lost a fujitsu drive to this and now use a hard disk cooler on my pc.
