QDI Legend Advance 9 Motherboard

I am experiencing a weird problem and my pc is running rather slow. Currently using XP2 + SP2,Intel P3 866 Mhz.
Is my motherboard dying?

I have 1 x 256Mb pc133Mhz strip in DIMM 1 and control panel/system recognises it as 256MB.

When I slot another strip of 256Mb in DIMM 2 or DIMM3 the system only recognises it only as 128Mb but a 128Mb strip is recognised correctly as 128Mb. So the max amount of SDRAM that can be installed is 512Mb (256+128+128Mb)

I know that all the memory strips function correctly because all the strips register correctly when inserted, individually,
in slot DIMM1.

Is it time to invest in a new motherboard?
I have re-installed the driver.

Thanks for your help
