QBASIC output automatically minimises

I have just moved on the WINDOWS XP PRO. I have an old QBASIC program which gives me a graphical display of some data in which I am interested.
Now, under Windows XP Pro, the program seems to run OK but the output remains on-screen for less than a second before minimising to the Task Bar. I can get it back from the Task Bar, but only momentarily.

Other QBASIC programs seem (so far) to run normally.

can anyone suggest what I can do to make the display available to me?

Are you using Start > Run, typing cmd and pressing Enter to get the Command Prompt before accessing your program?

Or are you typing your program name (or qbasic) into a Run window?
