putting rss on my site

I'm a bit over my head here but here goes. I've got a program from coffee cup to put rss news on my site - I've got the news source I want, have customised its design and I've uploaded four files, a swf file, an html file, a php file and an xml file. Then I've copied and pasted some code where I want it to appear. ( I know the files have uploaded because I can actually see the newsfeed as a swf file - but not where I want it on the page) Where I want it on the page in preview mode is just white box.I don't want to publish to the world until I get it right - surely in preview mode it should show up right? Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
