Hi all, My wife has a laptop that is running windows xp (she is happy with it for what she uses it for) and it is an HP notebook. Recently when she starts it up the first screen is now purple writing instead of white, (even the background is a purple ish colour) and then the second welcome screen is the same a purple hue/tint, yet when it finishes loading/starting up all is ok, all writing and colours are normal, does anyone have any idea please? I have done virus checks and system cleans etc and all is ok, even tho the wife does not download anything she is worriewd in case it is about to fail her. I have done a back up of all her pics and files onto discs in case the worst should happen. Kind regards (as per usual) Ian

Assume you mean the XP startup screen?

tried starting in safemode (tap F8 during boot and select safemode from the menu) is it the same?
