on start up computer displays error message "PT snoop" and looks like it's in safe mode. The computer will only then work in safe mode.

What O/S are you using?

Do you have an anti virus?

Do you have any of these programs ad-aware , spybot , a²free ?

Do you have a firewall?

Do you use a dial up modem or are you on broadband?

Please answer the above questions and then post back as there are differences as to how we tackle this dependant on the answers.

Go to start-run and type-msconfig-go to start up and see if ptsnoop is listed, if so untick it. Ptsnoop can be part of a PCI modem driver and is not needed or it could be a trojan.
