PS/2 mouse

I have an old computer using a pc100 super socket 7 mainboard m577.

It has 128 mb of ram and a 300mhz chip. Runs winme

I have purchased a new mouse which is ps/2. The serail to ps/2 adapter i bought with it does not work.

My main board manual says that on the board itself ther is a ps/2 mouse connector and ps/2 mouse pin header. how do i get my mouse to work using these connections?

Thanks in advance

How many ps/2 connections do you have? If two, perhaps the mouse and keyboard are in the wrong places.

PS/2 to serial adapters only work if the mouse is designed to use one. Mice are normally marked PS/2 or Serial or PS/2/Serial (these come with an adapter).

The easiest thing is to get a serial mouse. The chances of finding the right cable and bracket to use the motherboard PS/2 connector are slim, and it'll probably cost more than a serial mouse anyway!!
