My PS2 mouse moves a few jerky steps on startup and then freezes. Tried uninstalling but no joy. USB mouse i tried is fine. Running XP

Buy a new PS2 mouse, they're not expensive.

Or stick with the USB one.

I take it ps2 is a wireless mouse,Does it need the battery replacing.

Thanks for replying, did the obvious and spent an hour hunting in the attic to find an old mouse, plugged it in - all sorted so it was the mouse all along.

If the ps2 mouse is a ball mouse, I can almost certainly guarantee, that all it needs in order for it to work properly is a clean up of the rollers inside the mouse - these can be accessed by removing the ball, then using something like a nail-file to scrape of all the gunk that accumulates on the rollers. The rollers can be made to look like new again, smooth and shiner, then your little rodent will play happily again.

Hmmm, shiner, no shiny - yes :-)
