Protecting a wireless network

Is there a way of securing the wireless network in the house. I have a new laptop that can connect not only to my network, but also a neighbours. I read a previous thread, but i seemed to deal with the legalities of using another persons connection, so i'm still none the wiser.

Thanks

You need to enable encryption on your own wireless router. Either WEP or WPA - the latter is more secure. You will have to access your routers setup, usually via your web browser (Internet Explorer) and typing in the routers address. Probably something like 192.168.1.1

What make and model is your router?
