Protecting ones Passwords

I am no longer certain that my Password Protection Concept is as secure as I once thought.

Therefor I am looking for a "Free" password Protection Program. A search on this site produced Roboform. A search of Google produced a melange of products whose names meant nothing to me and I am not that keen to leave my security to a complete unknown.

I am sure that there is other suitable free software out there and folk who are happy with it. Maybe they could pass on the one that they use.

All advice gratefully received and suggestions followed up.

Why do you need software?

Put your passwords on an Excel spreadsheet or Word document and store that file on an external medium (pen drive, floppy), NOT on the PC

I use Steganos LockNote: click here

As Jackcoms says, don't keep the file on the PC.
